Meet The Shepherd Team

Joy is a part-time data wrangler and handles data creation for book lists, books, and author profiles.

Meet Joy
I graduated with an IT focus, mainly around databases, and then shifted my career to manage medical information for a huge medical insurance company in the US. I am from the Philippines, happily married, and I have two kids. I work remote as a data entry specialist, which basically means I do all sorts of nuanced data entry. I love to read all kinds of books but I'm currently hooked on non-fiction and fantasy-romantic-comedy-type novels.

Meet Bella
After graduating from the Agricultural Engineering department, I decided to help small businesses. I worked for several small companies on everything from A – Z. But, as the pandemic came, I decided to find remote work. I love to read and also love running, badminton, and tennis. I am from Indonesia. Salam kenal!

Frances is a part-time editor and guides authors through the publishing process.

Meet Frances
I have spent nearly two decades with my wife and best friend. We have four awesome children, and five years ago, embarked on a life-changing move from the American hustle to Portugal's serene landscapes. My family and I enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking and exploring, as well as visiting castles and old villages.

My wife, a Christian author and digital illustrator, and I co-founded Stewardship Press, a Christian-centered publishing venture. It can be complex balancing roles as an instructional and UX designer, editor, publisher, and ESL teacher but it is also very rewarding.

Amidst the demands of work and parenting, I cherish rare moments delving into novels like Two Dollar Bill by Stuart Woods and timeless, thought provoking classics such as 1984 and Fahrenheit 451.

Lauren

Lauren is a part-time editor and guides authors through the publishing process.

Meet Lauren
I come from a professional background in zoology, education, and emergency management. I currently live in Spain with my husband and two cats. We love to travel, seeking out nature, history, and food. In my free time, I enjoy playing padel, hiking, and sitting in the sun with a good book.

Of course, I love to read. I typically read classic literature, historical fiction, fantasy, biographies, and autobiographies, but I'll read just about anything!

Cathy takes care of all the authors at Shepherd, whether that is answering questions or sending them details on the submission process. She keeps us running smoothly.

Meet Cathy
I'm a mom of 3 residing on a beautiful island south of Manila in the Philippines. Like our founder and my teammates here at Shepherd, I also love to read. I discovered my love for reading as a child when I started browsing my father's collection of novels. I instantly fell in love with how the stories transported me to another place and time.

Other activities that I do, whenever I have spare time, are spending time with my family, communing with nature, and pouring out my thoughts and emotions on paper.

Johanna is a part-time data wrangler and handles data creation for books and related projects.

Meet Johanna
I decided to explore remote work as a freelancer during the COVID-19 pandemic and ultimately fell in love with the lifestyle that comes with it. Working freelance allowed me to continue doing things I am passionate about. I love reading, and I am currently into crime fiction and magical realism. I love playing volleyball, and I am also a huge K-pop fan.🫰

Ben

Ben is the founder of Shepherd and focuses on growing traffic, adding new features, improving existing features, and keeping things running smoothly. My email is ben@shepherd.com if you ever want to chat.

Meet Ben
I love to read, travel, bike long distances, eat delicious food, and use my imagination. I am an entrepreneur, and I love to take ideas and turn them into something people enjoy using. I am married to an amazing woman who makes life more fun, and we have a 5-year-old who makes our lives infinitely more interesting. Here is more about me and why I started Shepherd.

What do I love to read?
I love historical fiction, science fiction, fantasy, mystery/crime, history, biography, and business/economics. I am currently reading Rich Man’s War by Elliott Kay (military science fiction).

Márton is an awesome freelance developer we work with to build everything you see and use at Shepherd.

Meet Márton
Whenever I am not building software, you will find me on my bike in the nearby forests or hiking in remote mountains. I'm also a passionate reader, have not stopped reading ever since I got hooked on Jules Verne's adventures and Robinson Crusoe as a child. I still remember reading through entire weekends, unable to stop.

What do I love to read?
I read in three languages nowadays, mostly science fiction, adventure, crime stories in fiction and psychology, business, and self-help books in non-fiction.

Roman joined us in February 2023 as a part-time freelance designer and UX expert.

Meet Roman
After graduating from high school, I worked in an office for only a year. That was enough for me, and from then on, I became a freelancer. I love the freedom of getting up late, working when I want, and going for a walk when I want. Besides reading, I like spending time with my daughter, watching musicals, playing Dota 2, and very slowly writing my book about the future of education. I hope I will finish it in 5 years. Or more.

What do I love to read?
Basically, 3 kinds of books. If it's science fiction - it should have a philosophical, psychological, or sociological accent. If it's a fantasy - the fictional world should be original and well-developed. If it's a philosophical or popular science book - it should be smart and eye-opening.
